Harvesting Marijuana – Harvest Weed

Harvesting is the most enjoyable part of the process of the entire cultivation of marijuana. You can simply cut the plant down, remove buds to dry while leaving the leaves to process or dispose of. The most favourable time to harvest the marijuana plant is when the concentration of THC in plant has reached its maximum. THC is an important chemical compound found in marijuana plant which has psychotic effect. Generally growers wait till 60-80% of the white pistils have turned dark brown or red. One more method to check whether the crop is ready is to see if the trichomes of marijuana plant have matured. The time of the harvest may vary according to the personal preferences of growers.[ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ ]  [ 10 ]  [ 11 ]  [ 12 ]

When To Harvest Your Weed

What are the factors which determine the harvesting time of marijuana?

The best time to harvest marijuana plant depends upon several factors. Indoor plants usually ready after 12-14 weeks of time. The harvest of indoor plants can be easily controlled by artificial lights. Growers decrease light after 4-6 week period to 12 hours daily which causes flowering in plants. The flowering process continues for 8-10 weeks and then it is the time to harvest the crop. Contrary to this, outdoor growing is less controllable. The time of harvest also depends upon the variety of marijuana plants chosen by grower as well as the position of sun. When the days are shorter, flowering begins and after 7-10 weeks the plant gets ready for harvesting. The position of sun depends on which part of the world are you located. Normally in northern Hemisphere of the earth, the harvest is ready between September and November.

How to harvest outdoor cannabis  plant ?

Harvesting is like reaping your efforts. Marijuana is harvested when the flowers are ripe. Usually, flowers ripen when the white pistils turn brown or red in colour .When the time comes to harvest an outdoor cannabis crop, there are two different methods. The two methods depend upon the location or site of the crop. The first method is to cut the leaves from plant and keep them in paper bags and then cut the bud stems so that it leaves a long stem to hang the buds during drying. This is one of the easiest ways for harvesting outdoor marijuana as it allows the growers to take the harvest without being noticed. The second way is to cut the plants at the stem and then hang the entire cannabis plant for drying.

How to dry the marijuana crop after harvesting?

Remove all the leaves from the plants and leave only the buds. Hand the plants upside down from a wire in a cool dark place. The place should have air-circulation.  Buds which are forcibly dried have some harsh ‘green’ taste as they retain their chlorophyll. Allow the plants to dry naturally and check it after 4-6 days so that they dry completely on their own. One can check the dryness by squeezing the buds between one’s fingers and thumb. If the buds are dry, seal them in a moisture proof bag or jar. Allow the buds to breathe for the next few days for 10-15 minutes. This will ensure that all the moisture is removed from the buds. After complete drying the buds will have a smooth and sweet taste.
