White Widow Growing Guide – Beginning of Growth, Safety, and Sexing

Three very important topics in this article will be covered. Making sure everything is prepared and set up properly for the start of your white widow plants growth cycle is essential. Depending on where you are growing your marijuana plants you may be using fertilizer. If this is the case you will have to make sure the contents are 20-20-20. The main contents (NPK, at 20-20-20) are nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Once the white widow plants reach the flowering stage a different ratio may be adjusted.

Safety
The main reason why marijuana plants die during growth is because a problem progresses and no attention is brought to it. Animals could be disturbing your plants, insects or pests may have infested the area, mold is appearing, or your pH levels could have drastically altered. There are many things to keep an eye on. The most common issue when growing marijuana plants is usually an infestation of pests. If you do end up with pests they will have to be dealt with properly to eliminate possibility of your plants dying or at least salvage what is left. One of the most common pests would be spider mites which could do serious damage to your white widow plants.

Sexing
This is where you breed your marijuana plants. You can either create a cross-strain or sex two plants of the same strain. One will have to be male and the other will have to be female. To do this you will use a brown paper bag or similar material to cover a branch on the male plant. Tie the bag on with twist ties and allow the plant to receive 12 hours of light per day. After the sex of the marijuana plant shows if it’s female you will likely see white hairs and if it’s male you will likely see sacks with seeds in them.

After a male white widow plant is discovered it has to be removed from the grow area. This method works both to sex (produce seeds) your white widow plants and to determine the males without allowing them to contaminate your whole grow area and wound your yield and potency results.
