How to Use a Hookah

To begin your hookah session the water jar will have to be filled. You don’t have to use water and other liquids like alcohol or fruit juice can be used if preferred. Make sure the liquid covers at least a couple centimeters of the body tube. Also be sure the body tube is sealed.

Pack the bowl (also known as head) with tobacco, add tin foil or a screen, and then place the lit coal on top. The screen or tin foil is not needed but will lower the amount of coal ash you inhale. Also make sure you slit small holes in the tin foil if you choose to use one.

When you inhale from the hose the air pressure will suck the coal heat through the bowl. The hot air will heat up the tobacco and turn it into smoke. The smoke will then go through the body tube and water jar. The smoke will bubble through the water and cool down a bit. Depending on what you put in the water jar (liquid or ice) it may cool down more or less.

The smoke will fill up at the top of the jar where the hose is attached to. Once you inhale through the hose the smoke will go into your lungs and after stopping inhaling from the hose the pressure in the hookah will change. The hookah will continue to suck the air and suck the heat from the coal and through the tobacco. This will make the next inhale a lot easier to inhale.

That’s the basics of how to use a hookah properly. It’s not difficult to use a hookah but it may take some time to get used to.
